WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, led by Natural Resources Parks Subcommittee Chair Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02) and SEEC Co-Chair Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-06), the House Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC) announced the launch of their Nature and Oceans Task Force. The SEEC Nature and Oceans Task Force will work closely with Congressional colleagues, experts, and the Biden administration to harness the power of public lands and waters in the fight against the climate crisis.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that Colorado’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) will receive $53,240,645 in funding from the American Rescue Plan to support day-to-day operations, cleaning and sanitization and maintaining critical staffing levels. RTD is one of 35 recipients in 18 states to benefit from this round of transit funding from the American Rescue Plan.

Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse, the son of African refugees, is advocating for the U.S. to provide humanitarian assistance to refugees fleeing Ukraine and to designate Temporary Protected Status for Ukrainians residing in the U.S>. Today he joined over 70 members of Congress in a letter urging the Biden Administration to work with international partners to provide humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that FEMA has agreed to cover the costs of removing foundations, basements and burned vehicles damaged in the Marshall Fire. Congressman Neguse led a letter signed by Senator Michael Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper two weeks ago requesting that these items be included in FEMA’s Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) program. The coverage is extremely rare and has only been granted for a handful of other wildfires in recent years.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, along with Senator Michael Bennet and Senator John Hickenlooper sent a letter urging congressional Appropriators to expand the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) Program in fiscal year 2022. In a letter addressed to House and Senate Appropriations Committees, the Colorado lawmakers requested additional federal funding to support disaster recovery efforts across the U.S., including providing funds for Coloradans recovering from the destructive Marshall Fire.
