Specifically the legislation would reauthorize the successful Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) through 2025. Administered by the Department of Labor, the program is the only federal grant program which focuses exclusively on competitive employment for homeless veterans.
Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who serves as Vice-Chair of the House Immigration Subcommittee, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar sent a letter to the Biden Administration urging establishment of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for multiple African countries experiencing humanitarian crises. The letter urges TPS status be offered to individuals from Ethiopia, Mauritania and Cameroon, as previously requested by Amnesty International and other organizations in August of 2021.
