After 40 years in existence, 160 miles of gaps still separate parts of the trail

Rep. Joe Neguse proposed legislation directing the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to work together to finish the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail in time for the trail’s 50th anniversary in 2028.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) which services Boulder, Broomfield, and Jefferson County, will be receiving $304.2 Million from the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Transit Authority (FTA). Funded by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), this grant will help the Denver RTD maintain service and jobs as communities continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, the son of African refugees, and Congressman Tom Malinowski, a childhood immigrant to the US and former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, sent a letter to the Biden Administration urging the establishment of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Afghans facing new risks to their lives since the Taliban takeover. Additional signatories included Representatives Jim Langevin and Elissa Slotkin.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, led 32 of his colleagues in sending a bipartisan letter to President Biden in support of Western Governors’ recent Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) drought disaster declaration request. The letter highlights record drought conditions across the American West and emphasizes the need for disaster response resources in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, Utah, and Washington.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse helped secure passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act through the U.S. House of Representatives. Neguse has been pushing for a vote on the legislation for several months. Today he led the floor debate for the provision. This critical legislation would restore key protections of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA) which were gutted by the Supreme Court in the 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision and more recently in the 2021 Brnovich v. DNC decision.

Broomfield, CO—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that the North Metro Fire Rescue District in Broomfield, CO will receive a $21,636 regional grant through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. This funding will be used to provide firefighters with improved National Fire Protection Association compliant tools and equipment as well as new state of the art training programs.
