Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse announced today that Tom Mauser will join him as his guest at the State of the Union in Washington, DC, on February 4th to highlight the urgent need for action on the gun violence epidemic. Tom Mauser lost his son Daniel Mauser in the Columbine shooting in 1999 and has since become a vocal and prominent advocate for gun violence prevention legislation, wearing his son’s shoes throughout Colorado advocating to close the background check loophole that contributed to Daniel’s death.
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse and Congressman Francis Rooney introduced the Climate Resilient Communities Act, bipartisan legislation inspired by emergency management officials in Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District to require a report from the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) on climate resiliency at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), including recommendations on how to improve building codes and standards that the Agency uses to prepare for climate change and address resiliency.
Washington D.C.— This week, Congressman Joe Neguse announced the names of over 20 nominees for U.S. Military Service Academies from Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. This announcement followed a nomination celebration that the Congressman hosted last Friday, January 17th at the Broomfield Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post for all district nominees.

Adam Bartoletta, Niwot, nominated to U.S. Air Force Academy
Broomfield, C.O.— Congressman Joe Neguse will hold his 6th service town hall at A Precious Child in Broomfield on January 25th. Congressman Neguse launched the first-of-its-kind service town hall initiative in March of 2019 and has held events at Bridge House Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, Larimer Humane Society and Broomfield FISH since then. The event on Saturday will be the Congressman’s 4th town hall this year and the first service town hall of 2020.
Washington, D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse traversed Larimer County on Tuesday to visit constituents, meet with municipal leaders and deliver the first of two State of the District addresses to be given this week. Neguse met with Municipal leaders from Berthoud, Loveland, Fort Collins and Larimer County to discuss 2020 priorities and provide updates from Congress. Conversations focused on issues surrounding affordable housing, transportation and infrastructure, rural broadband, education and childcare funding.
Boulder, C.O.— Today, Congressman Neguse announced that a NIST-wide Professional Research Experience Program (PREP) in Boulder will receive a $5 million funding renewal in the fiscal year 2020.
“Federal research at NIST and federal labs across our district are essential for scientific progress and ingenuity,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “I am confident that PREP will continue to encourage more students to pursue research careers and offer opportunities for expanded learning and development for scientists at NIST.”
