Washington D.C. — Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District and serves as a member of House Leadership, today announced that the U.S. House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will hold their first field hearing in Boulder, Colorado on August 1st. Committee Chair Kathy Castor (D-Florida), Committee Members and Congressman Neguse plan to visit with officials in Boulder and hold an official congressional field hearing on the clean energy transition.
Washington D.C.— This week, the House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Immigration and Citizenship held multiple hearings on overcrowding and prolonged detention in Custom and Border Protection facilities at the border and immigration application backlogs at the USCIS. These were the first in a series of planned hearings on immigration policies and to examine current conditions for children and adults in detention facilities at the border and across the country. Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, introduced legislation to ban oil, gas, and mineral drilling beneath Federally owned Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) sites. The On or Under Act would direct the federal government to acquire mineral rights beneath federal NPL Superfund sites, and prohibit their extraction or disturbance.
Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse joined the bipartisan Congressional War Powers Caucus, co-chaired by Representatives Ro Khanna (D-CA) and Andy Biggs (R-AZ). The caucus, launched in late June, is dedicated to restoring Congress’s constitutionally-mandated authority over matters of war and peace.
Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Neguse signed onto H.R. 1571, the Debt Free College Act of 2019, bicameral legislation, led by Representative Pocan (WI-02) in the House of Representatives, aimed at reversing the student debt crisis and addressing the rising costs of higher education in the United States.
Washington D.C. — Congressman Neguse has passed an amendment on the House floor to ensure robust funding for the Postal Service Fund. The provision will be included in the Fiscal Year 2020 Financial Services legislation. The Postal Service Fund provides additional funding to the revenue received from its customers to cover the costs of free mail for the blind as well as overseas funding. This amendment will support the Postal Service’s delivery services and assist in shortening post office wait times in rural areas in particular.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Neguse announced a $3,987,750 million grant from FEMA which will be delegated to rebuild the Lower Beaver Brook Dam. This grant will fund the replacement of a highly hazardous 114-year-old rockfill embankment dam with a new concrete gravity dam. The purpose of the project is to substantially reduce the risk of future damage, hardship, loss, or suffering in communities as a result of a future dam failure.
