Congressman Joe Neguse Saves Constituents Nearly $300,000 in His First Ten Months in Office
Washington, D.C.— Since taking office, Congressman Joe Neguse has saved constituents from Colorado’s 2nd District a total of $292,439 through completed casework assistance. The savings are the result of more than 255 constituent casework files that Neguse’s staff have successfully processed and closed less than halfway through Neguse’s 2-year term in Congress. Congressman Neguse, through a robust team of constituent advocates in both Boulder and Fort Collins, has assisted constituents access benefits through Social Security and Medicare, obtain visas, and receive federal grant money for local projects.
“Above all else, I was elected to represent my constituents and respond to their needs and concerns,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “For as long as I hold elected office, I intend to continue supporting Coloradans in the 2nd District, whether by answering their letters or by resolving issues that come up in their daily lives. Representing them is my primary job and my first priority.”
In one case that was successfully handled, over $4,000 was stolen from a couple’s bank account. Because of the security breach, the couple went to a Social Security Administration (SSA) office to have their social security insurance payments routed to a new account. However, the SSA office did not assist them. Congressman Neguse’s office was able to inform the SSA office about their case and the request process began within days of the initial inquiry
Another constituent had issues with their Office of Personnel Management retirement account. The issue was resolved through an inquiry and they are now receiving the payments and credits that they deserve. Another constituent had been offered a job but the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services sent their work authorization form to the wrong address which normally results in a two-month delay. Because of the inquiries from Congressman Neguse’s office they were able to get the form in time to accept the position
In addition to the Congressman’s casework record, he has also hosted 23 town halls in district and visited all 10 counties in the district to tour businesses, meet with municipal leaders, teachers and advocates in each county since taking office.
