Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse unveiled legislation to provide funding for family members to attend military funerals and memorial services. Neguse introduced the measure as a standalone measure and as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2022.
Washington D.C. —Last night, Congressman Joe Neguse helped secure essential provisions to support wildfire prevention and wildland firefighters in the Continuing Resolution and Disaster Supplemental which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Neguse secured a provision to waive limitations on overtime and premium pay for wildland firefighters. As well, he helped secure $28.6 billion for emergency disaster funding, including for post-fire recovery for the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires in Colorado.
Neguse is working to add the provisions to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
The FARE grant program is administered by the Department of Labor and is part of the department’s broader effort to promote racial and gender equity.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands along with Representatives Madeleine Dean, Brian Fitzpatrick, Marcy Kaptur, and Jan Schakowsky, sent a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland regarding plans to remove bison from Grand Canyon National Park. The letter, which was also sent to Deputy Director of National Parks Operations Shawn Benge, urges consideration of non-lethal herd management practices.

The Climate Conservation Corps funding totals about $50 billion, close to the levels laid out in Neguse’s 21st Century Climate Conservation Corps Act. That legislation envisioned a modern New Deal-inspired program creating jobs and bolstering wildfire preparedness, land restoration and climate change resilience.
