Legislation introduced following complaints from Americans who were repeatedly charged for donations unwittingly authorized
Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, the only member of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis from the Rocky Mountain region, and Chair of the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, issued the following statement in response to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)’s contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report.
With crews still responding to the NCAR fire that forced thousands of people to evacuate over the weekend, a panel on Wednesday stressed that these types of events are part of the growing cost of climate change in Colorado.
While the NCAR fire has been mostly contained with no damage to structures or lives lost, the early spring fire combined with the recent destruction of the Marshall fire has made the impacts of Colorado’s changing climate all the more visible to legislators and their constituents.

WASHINGTON (KDVR) — The NCAR fire is just the latest reason one lawmaker is trying to get Congress to allocate more money to wildfire prevention.
Congressman Joe Neguse has been working on legislation to address wildfires since the end of last year. The bills have not had much movement in Congress, but he is hoping the latest wildfire outbreak will get his colleagues to work a little faster.

Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse applauded President Biden’s inclusion of hundreds of millions for the Climate Conservation Corps in his FY2023 budget request. The President’s Budget request also includes many other Colorado priorities, including increased investments for wildfire management, compensation for federal wildland firefighters, clean energy jobs, veterans support and special education programs.
Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse issued the following statement on the NCAR wildfire this weekend, which has burned close to 200 acres thus far, evacuated more than 19,000 individuals, and activated more than 200 firefighters across 30 agencies. The fire was within 1,000 yards of nearby homes according to emergency personnel and comes just three months after the Marshall Fire burned over 6,000 acres, destroying or damaging over 1,000 homes and businesses.
