Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, along with Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), Senator John Hickenlooper (D-CO), and Congressman Ken Buck, celebrated Senate passage of legislation to establish the Amache National Historic Site, a former Japanese American incarceration facility outside of Granada, Colorado, as part of the National Park System. Neguse and Buck introduced this legislation in the U.S.

The Senate voted unanimously Monday night to pass the Amache National Historic Site Act, which is sponsored by both of Colorado’s Senators, as well as Reps. Ken Buck and Joe Neguse.

Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, is pushing to increase funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) in the next fiscal year. In a letter addressed to Biden Administration Cabinet officials, Congressman Neguse requested $450 million in new funding to expand access to outdoor recreation and put local communities at the forefront in restoring public lands.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, led over 50 of his colleagues in a letter to President Joe Biden urging adoption of a national biodiversity strategy. Congressman Neguse is the lead sponsor of a resolution in Congress which calls for a whole-of-government approach to tackle the biodiversity crisis, protect ecosystems and wildlife and address the climate crisis.

Washington D.C.— Last night, Congressman Joe Neguse and Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar’s bipartisan, bicameral legislation to expand partnership opportunities between small businesses and the federal government passed the House of Representatives. The Promoting Rigorous and Innovative Cost Efficiencies for Federal Procurement and Acquisitions (PRICE) Act will modernize federal contracting procedures and ensure Colorado’s small businesses have an equal opportunity to participate in federal contracting.

Washington, DC— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that Colorado will receive its first $54 million to upgrade public transit systems under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The funding, administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration, is the first round of a five-year $917 million investment in Colorado public transit that will cut down on commute times, reduce emissions, and support good-paying transit jobs across the state.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, announced that the National Park Foundation (NPF) will grant funding to Colorado public schools to increase field trips to Rocky Mountain National Park. The funding, administered through NPF’s Open OutDoors for Kids program, will allow Colorado students from all communities and backgrounds to learn about the park’s history, biodiversity, and natural resources.
