Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that his office is now accepting applications for federal funding to be allocated to community projects for the fiscal year of 2023. Through the Community Project Funding (CPF) program, Members of Congress are able to request funding for up to 15 community projects within their district to receive federal funds.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse led a broad coalition of House and Senate Democrats urging leadership to take up legislation to ban members of Congress from trading stock. Congressman Neguse, alongside Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez introduced a proposal – the Ban Conflicted Trading Act – over two years ago, in recent months the idea has grown considerable support.

A group of Democratic lawmakers renewed calls for legislation prohibiting members of Congress from trading stock while in office during a press conference Thursday.

The lawmakers, which included Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Colorado Rep. Joe Neguse, among others, say the ban is necessary for lawmakers to regain public trust in federal officials.

“We are elected to serve the people, not stock portfolios,” said Neguse, who led the press conference.

With crews still responding to the NCAR fire that forced thousands of people to evacuate over the weekend, a panel on Wednesday stressed that these types of events are part of the growing cost of climate change in Colorado.

While the NCAR fire has been mostly contained with no damage to structures or lives lost, the early spring fire combined with the recent destruction of the Marshall fire has made the impacts of Colorado’s changing climate all the more visible to legislators and their constituents.
