Boulder, CO—Congressman Joe Neguse released the following statement after schools across the Denver area were closed this morning due to a credible threat of gun violence:
Traditionally, folks newly elected to the U.S. House of Representatives begin the job with the understanding that they'll have to pay dues for years, and sometimes decades, before getting a chance to exercise anything resembling real power. But Joe Neguse, the rep for Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, is among the members of the 116th Congress's freshman class to shatter that paradigm.
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Neguse announced a $3.2 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services awarded to the Thompson Valley School District for their Head Start program. The Head Start program promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services.
Washington D.C.—In the first 100 Days of the 116th Congress, Congressman Joe Neguse has already started delivering on his promises for the 2nd Congressional District, introducing a record 10 pieces of legislation, more than any other freshman member of Congress, holding 11 town halls, and launching the first-of-its kind “community service town hall” initiative.

Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse has three town halls planned for the April work period— including his second “community service town hall” at Rocky Mountain National Park to kick off National Parks Week. The other two town halls will be held in Evergreen and Fort Collins. The Save the Internet Act passed the House this morning.

Markey (D-Mass.) introduced the Guaranteed Refugee Admissions Ceiling Enhancement (GRACE) Act, legislation that would prevent a U.S. President from setting a Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions at a level below 95,000 in a given fiscal year.

A MAJOR LEGISLATIVE HEARING FOR THE CORE ACT
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced the Affordable College Textbook Act—the 9th original bill he has introduced since being sworn into office, the most of any freshman member of the 116th Congress. The bill would expand the use of free, open access textbooks on college campuses to provide more affordable alternatives to traditional textbooks and help reduce the cost burden of college education for students in Colorado and across the country. Senator Dick Durbin introduced a companion bill in the Senate today.
