Washington D.C.—In response to multiple COVID-19 outbreaks at senior living facilities across Colorado, Congressman Joe Neguse led a bipartisan letter today, along with the full Colorado Delegation, to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requesting that personal protective equipment (PPE) deliveries to these facilities be continued through June and July.

This legislation would ensure SNAP participants, especially seniors and immunocompromised individuals, have access to home food delivery and curbside pickup during the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) introduced companion legislation in the Senate.

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)– Rep. Joe Neguse, a Democrat who represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, came up with provisions to help Colorado towns and counties. The provisions are part of the “Heroes Act,” another coronavirus relief bill worth $3 trillion.

Neguse added $375 for direct aid to small cities, a 15% increase to the SNAP program and hazard pay for front-line workers.

House Democrats have fired the opening salvo in what could be a long and contentious battle over the next coronavirus relief effort.

The $3 trillion, 1,815-page coronavirus relief package unveiled Tuesday called the HEROES Act has little chance of passing the Republican-controlled Senate. But it gives the party a chance to set out its priorities. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said “we must think big for the people, now, because if we don’t it will cost more in lives and livelihood later. Not acting is the most expensive course.”

House Democrats today released text of the proposed plan, the HEROES Act, or the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, which would increase aid for state and local governments on the frontlines of the coronavirus crisis; extend unemployment insurance benefits; and provide more direct payments to Americans.
