Lafayette, CO – As the East Troublesome Fire grows at an alarming rate, Congressman Neguse continues to work on the local, state, and federal level to address the needs of those being evacuated and others in the area. The East Troublesome Fire in Grand County, CO grew over 100,000 acres in a matter of hours on Wednesday night, now reaching a total of 125,602 acres burned, and is now the second largest wildfire in state history.

Rep. Joe Neguse will host a virtual job fair in an effort to address unemployment and assist Coloradans undergoing the job search process.

The job fair is designed specifically for mountain communities in the 2nd Congressional District, including Summit County, which Neguse represents. It will be held from 3-5 p.m. Nov. 12. Those interested can register at NeguseJobFair.com.

Lafayette, CO - Congressman Joe Neguse announced his second virtual job fair to assist Coloradans navigating new unemployment and the job search process amidst COVID-19. The Job Fair will be held on Thursday, November 12th from 3pm-5pm. This job fair is specifically designed for the mountain communities in the second congressional district, including: Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Summit, and Eagle Counties.

Lafayette, CO - As wildfires continue to burn across the state of Colorado and the 2nd congressional district, Congressman Neguse has been working with local first responders and federal leaders to help address the needs of all Coloradans. To that end, Congressman Neguse is also releasing a Wildfire Resource Guide to provide his constituents with the information they could need while persevering through this year’s wildfire season. This Resource Guide holds information for how to prepare for an evacuation, where to find local resources, how to replace federal documents if lost and more.

DENVER (Oct. 20, 2020) – Colorado wildfires erupted across the state over the weekend as thousands of Coloradans were forced to evacuate in the Cameron Peak, CalWood, Lefthand Canyon and East Troublesome Fires. With wildfires blazing in our state, the Colorado Division of Insurance (DOI), within the Department of Regulatory Agencies, and the Rocky Mountain Insurance Association (RMIA) share insurance advice on evacuations, filing claims and financial preparedness.

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced FEMA has authorized federal funds to help fight Grand County’s East Troublesome fire which has grown to over 7,800 acres in Grand County. The fire is threatening 135 homes and approximately 100 people are under evacuation notices.

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced FEMA has authorized federal funds to help fight Boulder County’s Calwood fire which has grown to over 3,000 acres near Jamestown. The fire grew rapidly today, threatening 500 homes, 750 other buildings and has mandatory evacuations in place for approximately 1,000 people.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO), Chairwoman of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis Kathy Castor (D-FL), and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Water, Oceans and Wildlife Jared Huffman (D-CA) introduced the Carbon Cost Act, which would direct the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the National Academies of Science (NAS) to complete recommendations to Congress for establishing an entity responsible for analyzing how proposed Federal legislation is likely to impact the nation’s carbon emissions.

Washington D.C. – Last week Congressman Joe Neguse hosted his 2nd annual App-a-thon with a panel of coding experts from Google and IBM. Middle and high school students heard from the panel and were then able to present their ideas to coders and engineers in smaller breakout rooms, while also receiving tutoring from the experts.
