Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced new legislation to prohibit reporting of medically necessary procedures related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The bill would amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to ban debt from medically necessary procedures resulting from COVID–19 from being included on credit reports.

Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse announced new legislation to ease restrictions on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program to ensure recipients of those resources can maintain social distancing advice while also utilizing their benefits, and access essential home goods.

Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse led an effort along with Andy Levin (MI-09), Ben Ray Luján (NM-03), and Tom Malinowski (NJ-07) and the support of over 100 House Members requesting that future COVID-19 response packages include stabilization funding specifically for localities with populations under 500,000.

While the CARES Act that was signed by the President included a $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund, the legislation did not allow for localities with populations under 500,000 to receive stabilization funds directly.

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse joined Congresswoman Angie Craig and 85 other bipartisan Members of Congress to introduce the All Dependent Children Count Act to change text of the CARES Act to ensure that dependent children younger than 19, students 24 and younger and dependents of all ages who are disabled are counted forCARES Act direct cash assistance.

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced legislation to provide emergency supplemental appropriations to the U.S. Postal Service amidst the coronavirus pandemic to protect local postal workers and post offices. The Protect Our Post Offices Act would provide $25 billion for the Postal Service Fund.

This legislation provides $2 trillion in economic relief for Americans, including direct cash payments, historic expansion of unemployment insurance, small business grants, funding for personal protective equipment, the National Guard, FEMA, affordable housing, food assistance programs and election assistance.
