Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO), Chairwoman of the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis Kathy Castor (D-FL), and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Water, Oceans and Wildlife Jared Huffman (D-CA) introduced the Carbon Cost Act, which would direct the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and the National Academies of Science (NAS) to complete recommendations to Congress for establishing an entity responsible for analyzing how proposed Federal legislation is likely to impact the nation’s carbon emissions.

Washington D.C. – Last week Congressman Joe Neguse hosted his 2nd annual App-a-thon with a panel of coding experts from Google and IBM. Middle and high school students heard from the panel and were then able to present their ideas to coders and engineers in smaller breakout rooms, while also receiving tutoring from the experts.

Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse announced that RTD will receive a $180,000 Helping Obtain Prosperity for Everyone (HOPE) grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The HOPE program was established in the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020, to provide funds to support planning, engineering and technical studies to improve transit services in areas experiencing long-term economic distress.

Washington, D.C.— President Trump signed into law the Antitrust Criminal Penalty Enhancement and Reform Permanent Extension Act today, extending provisions and making it permanent. Congressman Neguse, the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law, introduced the bill in July of this year.

“I am grateful that both the House and Senate passed this important provision and made it permanent. It is a critical tool in detecting and prosecuting illegal cartel activity,” said Congressman Neguse.

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District, submitted a proposal to the House Committee on Rules that would require that committee hearing transcripts be made available to the public in a more timely manner. The House Committee on Rules offered Members of Congress the opportunity to propose changes to the House Rules that have governed the 116th Congress.

Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced Elena Aranda as the winner of the 2020 Polly Baca Raices Fuertes Community Leader Award for Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. Elena runs the Compañeras Program at El Centro AMISTAD in Boulder County. For the past 14 years the Compañeras program has held an annual summit that attracts hundreds of women and youth, and this this year we hosted the summit virtually by zoom with more than 400 attendees from 10 different countries.
