The report outlines how climate change is increasing fire weather, with drier, hotter, and longer fire seasons, fueling heat waves, amplifying drought, supercharging tropical cyclones, increasing extreme rainfall and driving coastal flooding.

Neguse: “It’s Time to Make This Vision a Reality”

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, announced that his proposal to establish a reimagined 21st Century Climate Conservation Corps and make historic investments in wildfire resiliency has been included in the $3.5 trillion budget resolution, unveiled this morning by Senate Democrats.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that his proposal to formally authorize the Joint Chiefs Landscape Restoration Partnership program has been included in the bipartisan Senate infrastructure package. The proposal which would formally authorize a vital U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) program, was added to the infrastructure package via an amendment offered by Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).

Washington, DC—This week, Congressman Joe Neguse sent a letter to the Energy and Commerce Committee requesting a hearing on H.R. 477, Ally’s Act, a bill introduced by Neguse to increase access to specialized hearing devices. The bipartisan legislation is named for its inspiration—a young girl from Broomfield, Colorado, whose necessary osseointegrated device (OID) is not covered by her insurance company. The letter urges Committee Chair Frank Pallone to consider the bill, an important step towards it becoming law.

Washington D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Boulder, Colorado in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) urging him to hold an immediate “markup” on legislation he has co-sponsored with Representative David Cicilline (D-RI) to reinstate a federal assault weapons ban. The letter was also signed by Representatives Cohen (D-TN), Crow (D-CO), Dean (D-PA), Deutch (D-FL), Escobar (D-TX), Kelly (D-IL), Norton (D-DC), and Perlmutter (D-CO).

Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse’s Colorado Judgeship Act was included in a new legislative package to increase the number of district court judges throughout the country. The District Court Judgeship Act of 2021, introduced by Congressman Hank Johnson, Chair of the Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet Subcommittee, adds 203 additional district court judges across 47 judicial districts, including adding additional judgeships in Colorado, as proposed in the Neguse legislation.
