Washington, D.C.— On Wednesday October 13th, Congressman Joe Neguse’s bill, the Simplifying Outdoor Access for Recreation (SOAR) Act will be considered by the House Natural Resources Committee. The bill reforms many of the bureaucratic hoops that have made the special use permitting process for federal lands time intensive, costly, and overly complicated.

The amendment was cosponsored by Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raúl Grijalva, lead sponsor of the Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act.

Washington D.C. —Last night, Congressman Joe Neguse helped secure essential provisions to support wildfire prevention and wildland firefighters in the Continuing Resolution and Disaster Supplemental which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Neguse secured a provision to waive limitations on overtime and premium pay for wildland firefighters. As well, he helped secure $28.6 billion for emergency disaster funding, including for post-fire recovery for the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires in Colorado.
