Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse has three town halls planned for the April work period— including his second “community service town hall” at Rocky Mountain National Park to kick off National Parks Week. The other two town halls will be held in Evergreen and Fort Collins. In addition, he’ll be holding his third “Java with Joe” and two more “Senior Saturday,” events to meet with smaller groups of constituents.

Washington D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse was chosen this morning to preside over the House floor throughout debate of H.R. 1644, the Save the Internet Act, to restore popular, bipartisan net neutrality protections for consumers and small businesses. The Save the Internet Act passed the House this morning.

Washington (April 9, 2019) – Today, Congressman Joe Neguse (CO-02), Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), and Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) introduced the Guaranteed Refugee Admissions Ceiling Enhancement (GRACE) Act, legislation that would prevent a U.S. President from setting a Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions at a level below 95,000 in a given fiscal year.

Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced the Affordable College Textbook Act—the 9th original bill he has introduced since being sworn into office, the most of any freshman member of the 116th Congress. The bill would expand the use of free, open access textbooks on college campuses to provide more affordable alternatives to traditional textbooks and help reduce the cost burden of college education for students in Colorado and across the country. Senator Dick Durbin introduced a companion bill in the Senate today.

Washington, D.C.— Today, Senator Cory Gardner and Congressman Joe Neguse introduced the STATES Act, Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States Act of 2019. This bipartisan legislation would eliminate conflicts between state and federal laws, enabling states to determine their own cannabis laws. Specifically, the legislation would amend the Controlled Substance Act so that any person acting in compliance with a state or tribal law would no longer see most of the Act’s provisions apply to them.

Washington D.C.— Today, Representative Joe Neguse, who serves on the Sub-Committee of the House Judiciary Committee, introduced a private bill in the House of Representatives to provide a stay on the deportation of Jeanette Vizguerra, a mother of four living in limbo in Colorado because of her unique immigration case. The private bill would extend Vizguerra’s stay for 6 months and stop ICE from initiating removal proceedings, due to the fact that ICE is attempting to deport her based on their erroneous belief that there is a preexisting removal order.
