Rep. Neguse Ranked Among Country’s Most Bipartisan Members of Congress
Representative Neguse was ranked No. 18 in the House and No.1 for the state of Colorado.
Lafayette, CO — This week, House Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse received national accolades for his ability to bridge the political divide and work across party lines. In a report outlining 2023 bipartisan index rankings for U.S. Representatives and Senators, Congressman Neguse was ranked No. 18 in the House of Representatives – receiving a score that also designates him as the most bipartisan member of Colorado’s congressional delegation. The index, released by the Lugar Center and the Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy, bases its rankings on how well lawmakers in Washington, D.C. work with members of the opposite party, making specific note of bill sponsorships and co-sponsorships.
“The past year has presented many challenges for our communities. Through it all, our team has worked to do what we’ve always done and cut through the chaos, work with folks of all political stripes, and commit to delivering results for the people of Colorado,” said Assistant Leader Neguse. “I believe that we are at an inflection point as a country. A time at which it is of the utmost importance that we work together to foster greater collaboration and dialogue with those who we may disagree. I’m grateful for this recognition and will continue to remain hopeful for our future and our ability to address the consequential challenges of our time.”

Assistant Leader Neguse’s ranking is the latest in a series of recognitions he’s received for his work to forge pragmatic, bipartisan legislative coalitions in the U.S. Congress. Last year, Neguse won the 2023 John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award from the JFK Presidential Library and Harvard Institute of Politics for his approach to legislating, including his ability to effectively craft bipartisan solutions and establish several bipartisan congressional caucuses. His aptitude for tackling issues of importance in Congress has also led to him being ranked as one of the country’s top three most effective lawmakers in the House of Representatives.
The 40-year old Colorado Congressman, a third-term lawmaker, currently serves as the House Assistant Minority Leader. He is only the second Coloradan in state history to serve as a senior member of House leadership, and is the highest-ranking Colorado lawmaker in Congress since the 1930’s.
