Washington, D.C. — Congressman Joe Neguse will receive the 2023 John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award from the JFK Presidential Library and Harvard Institute of Politics. Rep. Neguse was selected for modeling servant leadership through his work to restore hope in democratic institutions, successfully forging pragmatic, bipartisan legislative coalitions and implementing innovative service-centered, community initiatives. Prior award recipients include U.S. Senator Cory Booker and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, among others. Jack Schlossberg, President Kennedy’s grandson, will present this year’s recipients with the award.
The award recognizes Rep. Neguse for his ability to effectively craft bipartisan legislative solutions, bridging the political divide to establish several bipartisan congressional caucuses. Rep. Neguse was also recognized for his efforts to foster stronger ethics and accessibility in government and promote stronger civic and community partnerships.
“In the sixties, when President Kennedy spoke of the New Frontier, he noted that our nation was facing an inflection point – that we, in fact, were standing on the precipice of change, as he called on a new generation of Americans to serve our great country. I believe, at this moment in time, that the American people find themselves standing at a similar crossroads. A time at which it has never been more important to find ways to serve our communities, foster greater collaboration and dialogue with those with whom we may disagree, and find common ground,” said Congressman Neguse. “I believe a willingness to work with others in good faith will help us address the serious challenges our country faces, and am committed to doing exactly that. I am deeply humbled and incredibly honored to receive the New Frontier award, and remain dedicated to building a better, brighter future for generations to come.”
