Washington D.C. —Last night, Congressman Joe Neguse, Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Wildfire Caucus, passed two proposals through the U.S. House of Representatives to provide housing stipends and mental health services for federal wildland firefighters.

Washington D.C. —Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands passed an amendment through the U.S. House of Representatives which would add the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy Act as well as the Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act to the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The amendment was cosponsored by Natural Resources Committee Chairman Raúl Grijalva, lead sponsor of the Grand Canyon Centennial Protection Act.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse unveiled legislation to provide funding for family members to attend military funerals and memorial services. Neguse introduced the measure as a standalone measure and as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY2022.

Washington D.C. —Last night, Congressman Joe Neguse helped secure essential provisions to support wildfire prevention and wildland firefighters in the Continuing Resolution and Disaster Supplemental which passed the U.S. House of Representatives. Neguse secured a provision to waive limitations on overtime and premium pay for wildland firefighters. As well, he helped secure $28.6 billion for emergency disaster funding, including for post-fire recovery for the Cameron Peak and East Troublesome fires in Colorado.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse unveiled a resolution calling for the U.S. to maintain its commitment to vulnerable Afghans, and facilitate safe passage for those with P1 and P2 visas to the U.S. The resolution recognizes the contributions that many who are now fleeing Taliban persecution have made to U.S. operations, and emphasizes the House of Representatives’ commitment to securing Afghan refugees safe passage to the U.S.

Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, Chair of the U.S. Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands along with Representatives Madeleine Dean, Brian Fitzpatrick, Marcy Kaptur, and Jan Schakowsky, sent a letter to Interior Secretary Deb Haaland regarding plans to remove bison from Grand Canyon National Park. The letter, which was also sent to Deputy Director of National Parks Operations Shawn Benge, urges consideration of non-lethal herd management practices.
