Washington, D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced Elena Aranda as the winner of the 2020 Polly Baca Raices Fuertes Community Leader Award for Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District. Elena runs the Compañeras Program at El Centro AMISTAD in Boulder County. For the past 14 years the Compañeras program has held an annual summit that attracts hundreds of women and youth, and this this year we hosted the summit virtually by zoom with more than 400 attendees from 10 different countries.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Neguse released the following statement about the Senate companion to H.R. 5485, “Ally’s Act”:

“I am proud that Senator Warren and Senator Capito introduced the Senate companion to “Ally’s Act.” This bipartisan and bicameral legislation is critical for people like Ally Tumblin, who require osseointegrated-integrated hearing devices (OIDs), including bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) and cochlear implants.

House Democrats announced today an updated version of the HEROES Act, which include many priorities advocated by Congressman Neguse. 

Lafayette, CO –Today, Congressman Neguse is celebrating National Public Lands Day, which is organized annually by the National Environmental Education Foundation and several public lands agencies, including the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and U.S. Forest Service.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO), alongside his colleagues Reps. Mike Levin (D-CA) and Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), passed an amendment to establish a program focused on improving wildfire smoke emissions modeling and developing smoke forecasts. The amendment also directs the Environmental Protection Agency to collect data and coordinate research on the impacts of acute air pollution exposure from wildfires, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The amendment passed along with H.R. 4447, the Clean Economy and Innovation Act.

Washington, D.C.— Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO) and Congressman John Curtis (R-UT) introduced the EIDL Forgiveness Act, bipartisan legislation that would exclude the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Advance when determining loan forgiveness for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). The legislation would ensure that those business owners who received PPP funds will not have their loan forgiveness reduced by their EIDL Advance. 

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Neguse announced over $4.3 million in FEMA funds towards critical Larimer County bridge and roadway projects from the 2013 floods.

These grants will provide 75% of the total project cost in federal funding towards projects that repaired damage from the flooding and mudslides that occurred in 2013. This funding will cover repairs to County Road 44H roadway due to the overflow of Buckhorn Creek, and bridge repairs and roadway replacements due to the overflow of the Big Thompson River.

Washington D.C.— Rep. Joe Neguse voted to pass Rep. Grace Meng's (NY-06) resolution condemning all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19. Since January 2020, there has been a dramatic increase in reports of hate crimes and incidents against those of Asian descent. Over 2,500 cases related to COVID-19 anti-Asian discrimination were recorded since March.
