Washington, D.C. — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that his Veterans Job Training Act, legislation to expand job training and placement services for homeless veterans, will be considered in a Veterans Affairs Committee hearing on September 21. Specifically the legislation would reauthorize the successful Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program (HVRP) through 2025. Administered by the Department of Labor, the program is the only federal grant program which focuses exclusively on competitive employment for homeless veterans.
Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who serves as Vice-Chair of the House Immigration Subcommittee, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar sent a letter to the Biden Administration urging establishment of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for multiple African countries experiencing humanitarian crises. The letter urges TPS status be offered to individuals from Ethiopia, Mauritania and Cameroon, as previously requested by Amnesty International and other organizations in August of 2021.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced legislation to reduce the tax burden on veterans who take advantage of student loan discharge provisions. His bill, the Veterans Equitable Taxation (VET) of Student Loans Act, seeks to retroactively and perpetually exempt veterans whose student loan debt was discharged due to death or permanent, total disability from tax liability on their forgiven loans.

Funded by the American Rescue Plan (ARP), this grant will help the Denver RTD maintain service and jobs as communities continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
