September 22, 2023

Lafayette, CO — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced that applications for the 2023 Congressional App Challenge are now open. Eligible students are encouraged to register and submit their apps through 12:00 PM EST on November 1st, 2023 at this link. The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle and high schoolers in Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.

The winner from Colorado's 2nd Congressional District, chosen by a panel of expert judges, will be featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us. The winning app will also be eligible to be on display in the U.S. Capitol, honoring the winners from across the country. Students entering the competition must submit their app HERE during the Competition Submission Period.

Congressman Neguse will also be hosting his annual App-a-thon. The App-a-thon is an opportunity for students who would like to participate in the Congressional App Challenge to meet with coding professionals to get helpful tips and tricks, get feedback on your app before submitting, and to learn more about where a career in STEM can take you. Interested individuals can register for the event HERE

Established by the United States House of Representatives in 2014, this competition encourages students to create and submit their own app for the opportunity to receive national recognition. Students may participate as individuals or in teams of up to four. Students can create an application (also known as an "app") for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi or other devices. Any programming language is accepted, including but not limited to C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or "block code." The challenge is designed to promote innovation and engagement in computer science.
