Rep. Neguse Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Designating April as National Native Plant Month

April 26, 2023

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Joe Neguse (D-CO) and Representative Ken Buck (R-CO) introduced a bipartisan resolution to designate April 2023 as “National Native Plant Month.”

Designating April as National Native Plant Month recognizes the importance of native plants to our biodiversity, climate, and water conservation. People and organizations across the county can celebrate by planting native trees, shrubs, vines, grasses, and wildflowers and removing non-native invasive species.

“Declining biodiversity is a threat to our planet – damaging ecosystems, increasing pollution, and draining our water supply. But we can take action to help our environment by planting native plant species,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “Colorado is home to over 3,000 native plant species, and these plants are key to environmental conservation. I am honored to introduce this bipartisan resolution to shed light on the importance of native plant species.”
