Rep. Neguse Hosts 17th Town-Hall of the Year in Granby

October 23, 2025

Congressman Neguse is only Colorado lawmaker to hold an in-person town-hall during the government shutdown; implores his Republican colleagues to do the same.

Granby, CO — As Republicans in Colorado’s Congressional Delegation refuse to host public town hall meetings amid the ongoing government shutdown, Congressman Joe Neguse convened his 17th open, public town hall of the year this evening in Grand County — he is the only member of Colorado’s House delegation to host a town-hall during the government shutdown.

“Speaker Johnson has unilaterally refused to reopen the House, notwithstanding that the government has now been shut down for 22 days. Meanwhile, my Republican colleagues are off on a five-week paid vacation, and refuse to hold a single, in-person town-hall. The people of Colorado are fed up. Where is the representation for folks in our state’s Republican-led districts?” said Congressman Neguse.

“My offices will remain open — always — and I’ll continue to meet directly with constituents across Northwestern Colorado at our town-halls, open forums, and more. It is long past time for my colleagues across the aisle to do the same — to get back to work and get serious about negotiating in good-faith to reopen the government and address the healthcare crisis they created.”

During the event Neguse fielded questions about the ongoing lapse in federal appropriations, and constituent concerns regarding the country’s current economic conditions. Local residents raised issues about the Argentina bailout and increased beef imports, which could devastate producers and ranchers in Grand, Routt, Eagle and Jackson counties. Many also voiced frustration over the tariffs, which they said have recklessly caused needless damage to small businesses on the Western Slope.

The Colorado Congressman continues to set the standard for constituent access, hosting more town halls than all of Colorado’s members of the U.S. House of Representatives combined. Already this year, he’s convened in-person community gatherings in Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, Nederland, Breckenridge, Louisville, Boulder, Steamboat Springs, Edwards, Frisco, Gold Hill, Allenspark, Red Feather Lakes, Laporte, and now Granby.
