Neguse Secures $1 Million in Federal Funding for Loveland Pulliam Community Building Renovations
Washington, D.C.—This week, Congressman Joe Neguse secured $1 million in federal funding to help revive and restore the historic Pulliam Community Building in Loveland. The funding contributes to efforts by the City of Loveland to renovate the community building allowing it to serve as a key shelter and resource distribution center during wildfires and other disasters and be a magnet for economic activity downtown, as a place to host concerts, conventions and other attractions.
In total, Congressman Neguse secured over $7 million in funding for community projects in his district that will be funded by Congress in FY 2022. The omnibus package passed the House last night and now heads to the Senate where swift passage is expected.
“I’m incredibly proud to secure $1 million in federal funding to support renovations and revitalization of the Pulliam Community Building in Loveland,” said Congressman Neguse. “Once completed, the Center will provide a safe, accessible space for neighbors to gather and will add an additional emergency shelter for Larimer County in the wake of future wildfires and other disasters. As we’ve spoken with local officials and community members over the last year, the significance of the Pulliam building was obvious and we are confident the improvements will have a beneficial impact on the community.”
“I am thrilled for our community and grateful to Congressman Neguse. With this generous grant, the renovation of the Pulliam Building is now one step closer to completion. Once completed, this sleeping beauty of a building will once again grace our Downtown as a central gathering place for entertainment, meetings and celebrations,” said Loveland Mayor Jacki Marsh. “I look forward to listening to concerts and to watching dancers glide across the beautiful wood floors. Thank you Congressman Neguse.”
A renovated Pulliam Community Building would provide a disaster shelter for displaced citizens that would minimize the loss of lives experienced by the City of Loveland and surrounding communities during disasters. Additionally, the city-owned property would help build community by providing meeting and community space at an affordable cost to local clubs and residents.
Neguse submitted several Community Project Funding requests to the Appropriations Committee, and has had remarkable success advocating for projects in Colorado’s 2nd District. The Pulliam Community Building is among the 10 Neguse-sponsored projects to be funded in FY2022.
