Lafayette, CO — Last week, Congressman Joe Neguse, Assistant Minority Leader of the U.S. House, made multiple visits in Fort Collins, Colorado to highlight issues of critical importance to local residents.
“We remain laser focused on doing what’s right for the families and individuals we are privileged to represent. Advancing the interests of folks in Fort Collins by working to lower everyday costs for families, expanding access to critical programs like health care, child care, and others, and investing in our communities to make a real difference for families and households across the Front Range,” Congressman Joe Neguse said after Thursday's community town hall. “For me, these town halls and visits with community members are an opportunity to hear directly from constituents on what matters to them. A time for us to come together, share our thoughts, and collaborate on solutions. So, whether folks were here to listen, ask questions, or provide feedback, their participation is invaluable, and it's what makes these gatherings so impactful for me and everyone on my team.”
To start his day, Assistant Leader Neguse joined a briefing on the Colorado–Wyoming Climate Resilience Engine. During the meeting, Neguse spoke on the important role federal funding, made possible by the CHIPS and Science Act, has played in driving their innovative approach to climate resiliency.
Next, the Assistant Leader presented local veteran Richard Carneski with a Korean Defense Medal and Congressional Certificate of Recognition. Now fifty-five years after Mr. Carneski’s time in service, Neguse and his team hosted a small ceremony to give him the thanks he so greatly deserves and to honor his contributions to the nation.
To close out the day, Assistant Leader Neguse welcomed more than one-hundred and twenty Fort Collins residents for a town hall at the Fort Collins Senior Center. Neguse provided a brief update on his work in Washington, D.C. and shared his goals for the upcoming legislative session. He then took questions from attendees, and participants discussed everything from federal support for wildfire recovery efforts to protections for key government programs like Social Security and Medicare.
