Congressman Neguse Introduces Legislation to Honor the Sacrifices of Vietnam-Era War Veterans

June 22, 2025

Washington, D.C. — As covered by CBS News Colorado, Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse introduced a bipartisan bill to indefinitely extend the congressionally authorized Vietnam War Commemoration program to honor and recognize the sacrifices made by the nearly 9 million Vietnam War-era veterans. The program was inaugurated at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. on Memorial Day in 2012, and is currently set to conclude on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025. Neguse’s bill, the Vietnam Veteran Commemoration Fund Act, is co-led by Republican Representatives Joe Wilson (SC-02) and Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06).

“I’m proud to introduce the Vietnam Veteran Commemoration Fund Act, to ensure we are honoring and recognizing each and every brave Vietnam War-era veteran—today and every day,” said Congressman Neguse.

“I am grateful to join my colleagues in co-leading this important, bipartisan initiative to thank and honor Vietnam veterans and their families on the 50th Anniversary of the war. The continuation of this program will highlight those who bravely served, are still missing, and gave the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the country. Your service is appreciated,” said Congressman Wilson.

“The brave soldiers who served in Vietnam endured unimaginable and difficult conditions in service to their fellow citizens deserve to have their dedication and sacrifices honored,” said Congressman Ciscomani. “I’m proud to co-lead this important effort to recognize and preserve their legacy on the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.”

During the 13-year-long commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, thousands of Members of Congress and organizations have held events to ensure that every veteran, family member, caregiver, and survivor impacted by the difficult years in Vietnam feels our nation’s gratitude for their sacrifice. Congressman Neguse is proud to host an annual Vietnam Veterans Congressional Commemoration Ceremony, last year he hosted folks at the Longmont American Legion Post 32 and the year prior he was joined by local service members in Fort Collins.
