Congressman Neguse to Host Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in Colorado for Discussion on Affordable Health Care
Neguse serves as the only member of Colorado’s delegation on the House Leadership team
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District and serves as a member of House Leadership, announced that he will host Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi in Broomfield, Colorado on Wednesday, August 28th for a policy discussion on affordable health care. As a member of the House Leadership team, Congressman Neguse has worked closely alongside Speaker Pelosi in his first eight months in Congress to build consensus in Washington and prioritize affordable healthcare as a key tenant of the Democratic caucus’s ambitious agenda in the 116th Congress. On August 28th, Speaker Pelosi, Congressman Neguse and Colorado Insurance Commissioner Michael Conway will discuss policy solutions to build on the success of the Affordable Care Act and ensure high quality affordable health care for all Americans.
“I’m honored to host Speaker Pelosi in Colorado for a vitally important and relevant conversation on affordable health care,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “In Washington we are hard at work to protect and defend affordable health care for all Americans, to ensure that no family and no patient goes bankrupt paying for their medical care. Lowering the cost of health care, promoting affordability of prescription drugs and strengthening much-needed protections for all patients are urgent priorities of the 116th Congress.”
“It is a pleasure to join Congressman Joe Neguse in his community for this critical conversation about protecting the right of every Coloradoan and American to quality, affordable health care,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi. “Congressman Neguse has been an effective, respected voice of our Democratic House Leadership team, helping drive forward our progress to lower health costs and prescription drug prices, strengthen life-saving protections for people with pre-existing conditions and defeat the cruel Republican lawsuit to destroy every last protection of the Affordable Care Act. The American people elected a Democratic Majority that would fight For The People – and with leaders like Congressman Neguse at the helm, that is exactly what we will continue to do.”
In the 116th Congress, Speaker Pelosi, Congressman Neguse and the democratic caucus are working tirelessly to protect the Affordable Care Act from attacks by President Trump and the Republican party, by passing legislation to strengthen protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions and ensure price transparency and affordability for prescription drugs. In June, Congressman Neguse introduced legislation to end surprise billing for patients needing air ambulance services.
