Congressman Neguse Announces $3,987,750 Million FEMA Grant To Build Lower Beaver Brook Dam
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Neguse announced a $3,987,750 million grant from FEMA which will be delegated to rebuild the Lower Beaver Brook Dam. This grant will fund the replacement of a highly hazardous 114-year-old rockfill embankment dam with a new concrete gravity dam. The purpose of the project is to substantially reduce the risk of future damage, hardship, loss, or suffering in communities as a result of a future dam failure.
“This project will help protect the surrounding community’s water supply and the homes of those living downstream. This is a critical infrastructure project and the state of Colorado is proud to partner with FEMA to make our mountain communities safer from natural disasters and to update our aging infrastructure,” Congressman Neguse said of the project.
Lower Beaver Brook Dam is located in Clear Creek County, Colorado approximately 7.1 miles northwest of Evergreen, Colorado. Lower Beaver Brook Dam is located on Beaver Brook, a tributary to Clear Creek just west of Beaver Brook Canyon Road.
