Congressman Neguse Announces $3.2 Million Grant for Thompson Valley Head Start Program
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Neguse announced a $3.2 million grant from the Department of Health and Human Services awarded to the Thompson Valley School District for their Head Start program. The Head Start program promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services.
“I am thrilled that the Thompson Valley School District was able to secure these important funds for their Head Start program. Head Start puts every child in our community on an equal footing. Children under five are at a critical point in their development, investment in their futures in the years before kindergarten has been scientifically proven to set them up for future success,” said Congressman Neguse.
Since its inception, Head Start has served more than 36 million children, birth to age five, and their families. Last year, Head Start was funded to serve nearly 1 million children and pregnant women in centers, family homes, and in family child care homes in urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout the nation.
