Congressman Joe Neguse Secures Two Key Provisions for the 2nd District in Bipartisan Public Lands Package

February 28, 2019

Washington D.C.— Yesterday evening, Senate bill 47, also known as the Natural Resources Management Act, passed in the House with bipartisan support. The bill includes two provisions introduced by Representative Neguse: the Bolts Ditch Access and Use Act and the Arapaho National Forest Boundary Adjustment (WEDGE) Act.

“I am proud to see two of my first pieces of legislation pass on the house floor last night as part of the public lands package. The Bolts Ditch Access and Use Act and the Arapaho National Forest Boundary Adjustment (WEDGE) Act will have a direct, local impact on the communities in Colorado’s 2nd District,” said Representative Joe Neguse.

The Bolts Ditch Access and Use Act will allow the town of Minturn in Eagle County, water access with the use of the Bolts Ditch head gate. While, the WEDGE Act will incorporate ~124 acres of land adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park into Arapaho National Forest. Additionally, the bill will permanently authorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund.

“The permanent authorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund is long overdue and a milestone for future generations,” Representative Joe Neguse continued. “In Colorado, we understand the value of our public lands. Our state’s outdoor recreation economy brings in $28 billion and $10 billion in workers’ wages. Investing in our public lands and conserving our wild places is good for our economy and our future. I’m proud to support the passage of the bipartisan Natural Resources Management Act and to see it pass through the house yesterday.”

The Natural Resources Management Act includes 9 provisions that will benefit Colorado.
