A Summer Well Spent in Colorado’s 2nd!
Dear Neighbor, Last week the District Work Period came to a close, and as I embark back to Washington D.C. to serve the wonderful people of our community, I’m filled with gratitude for the opportunity I had to spend the past several weeks visiting with folks across our state. Over the past month we’ve held community meetings, events, town halls in nearly all 12 counties in Colorado’s 2nd District—from Larimer to Routt, Boulder to Weld, Eagle to Gilpin, and Summit and beyond!
Last week, we were back in northern Colorado for a Town Hall in Fort Collins. It is always a joy of mine to visit with neighbors, families, businesses, and local leaders, answering their questions on the issues that matter most to them. Before sitting down for our community conversation, we held a service portion of the Town Hall — assisting folks at Colorado State University’s Bison Service Project. The Bison Service Project is working to promote the conservation of bison herds across the West — many thanks to the constituents, CSU officials and the Larimer County Sheriff who joined us in our efforts!
Over the weekend, I joined with the people of Lyons and Glenn Haven as we commemorated the 10th anniversary of the historic 2013 floods. Towns in Colorado’s 2nd suffered some of the worst damage from the floods, and in joining the remembrance events, I was overwhelmed by the resilience of our community on full display, and the outpouring of support from neighbors across the state as our communities continue to recover— they truly embody the Colorado spirit.
Stronger together.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?
- I wrote to the FAA and Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport urging them both to address concerns regarding noise pollution. Read our letter here.
- We secured $2 million in federal funding for the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Colorado’s Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics (JILA) – a world-leading research facility!
- Senator Michael Bennet and I called on the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to conduct a full environmental review of the proposed Wildcat Loadout expansion project. The expansion and the proposed Uinta Basin Railway would increase oil train traffic and potentially harm water quality and wildlife, and enhance wildfire risk.
