Protecting Colorado’s World-Class Outdoor Recreation Industry

Newsletter

Dear Neighbor, Colorado is home to a robust and thriving outdoor recreation industry, and last week we took major steps to protect this world-class workforce. Starting on Wednesday with the re-introduction of the Continental Divide Trail Completion Act; a bipartisan bill that directs the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to work together to finish the 3,100-mile Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT). Completing the CDT fulfills a promise made over four decades ago to provide the American people with world-class recreational opportunities spanning the length of the Continental Divide.

Next up, we introduced the Biking On Long-Distance Trails (BOLT) Act which expands outdoor recreation opportunities by identifying potential long-distance bike trails and expanding mapping resources for long-distance bikers. For communities across Colorado, this bill is key. It will expand outdoor recreation opportunities and boost mountain economies.

In our state, the outdoors are a way of life. I will continue to do all I can to protect access to the outdoors for everyone.

Stay up to date with all to come by following us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.

BIG NEWS! EAST TROUBLESOME & CAMERON PEAK POST-FIRE RECOVERY

I am thrilled to announce that last week the U.S. Forest Service allocated $39 million to support the recovery of the watershed affected during the East Troublesome and Cameron Peak fires. Governor Polis, Senator Bennet, Senator Hickenlooper, and I have consistently raised concerns about post-fire recovery needs, and this is a tremendous step toward prioritizing the health and wellbeing of our lands and our people.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?
  • Last week, we announced $18.5 Million for communities across Colorado to upgrade essential water, wastewater, & stormwater infrastructure. Learn more HERE

  • Honoring the Anniversary of the Vietnam War!
