Holding On To Hope

Dear Neighbor,
As our country — and the world — face multiple crises, it is more important than ever for us to focus on hope —  finding hope, spreading it far and wide, and holding on to it as we grapple with such significant challenges. Each and everyday, my team is focused on doing precisely that, as we work to serve the wonderful people of Colorado in the United States Congress.

At such a solemn moment for our nation and for the global community, the world is watching—and families across America are counting on us to remain resolute in our promise to responsibly govern the House of Representatives. Please know that at this time of deep dysfunction in Washington D.C., I am continuing to do all I can to stop the current chaos in Congress. I’ve continued my efforts to advocate for a bipartisan path forward in the House as we mark 10 days without a Speaker, and I’ll continue to do so until the Congress can get back to the people’s business.

This week in Washington, I also joined my colleagues in a bipartisan evening vigil to honor the lives of those brutally lost at the hands of Hamas terrorists, and to pray for the countless victims and hostages and stand in solidarity with Israel. My office has been working around the clock to assist constituents currently in Israel, and are doing everything in our power to ensure quick, safe, and secure departures for Coloradans. We encourage folks to continue to reach out to our office if they are in need of assistance. U.S. citizens seeking to be in touch with the U.S. Embassy in Israel, or looking for assistance, should also complete the Department of State’s Crisis Intake Form, here.

While our hearts remain very heavy, I have always believed that while fear is contagious, so is hope, and I trust you’ll join me in working to spread hope during such troubling times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or requests for assistance.

PRAYER FOR PEACE VIGIL

On Monday, I was deeply grateful to join the Colorado Jewish Community Relations Council and so many Coloradans at an incredibly moving ‘Pray for Peace in Israel’ community vigil at Temple Emanuel.

FIRE RECOVERY: STRONGER TOGETHER

Last week, we welcomed House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark to Colorado for a tour of Marshall Fire rebuilding efforts in Superior, where we highlighted the incredible work citizens and local leaders have done to ensure we emerge “Stronger Together.” We also visited a local Head Start Child Care Center in Lafayette as well. I’m honored to represent Colorado in House Leadership, and to do so alongside Whip Clark as we work to protect vital community programs.

WHAT ELSE HAVE WE BEEN WORKING ON?
  • I’m proud to announce the introduction of my legislative package to improve water resilience in the West. The bipartisan bills included – the Drought Preparedness Act and the WATER Data Improvement Act – will support communities impacted by ongoing record-breaking drought conditions. Read more HERE

  • Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen and I continue to implore the Rocky Mountain Metro Airport and the FAA to immediately address the ongoing air noise and lead pollution at RMMA. Read our latest letter HERE

Should you need any assistance from our office, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Please stay safe, stay healthy, and stay hopeful.
