U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse establishes senior advisory council

August 6, 2019

U.S. Congressman Joe Neguse, who represents Colorado’s Congressional District 2, has established a Senior Advisory Council to identify legislative actions and constituent services to assist seniors and other groups in his District.  Congressman Neguse considers planning in these areas to be essential due to the anticipated population doubling of persons over age 65 by the year 2030.

Appointees to the Senior Advisory Council held their formation meeting in Boulder on Monday, July 29.  In addition to the Congressman, attendees included members representing Estes Valley, Nederland, Fort Collins, Loveland, Lyons, Boulder and other outlying areas of Representative Neguse’s Congressional District.

A variety of topics were introduced and discussed that especially impact seniors, including climate change, health care (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid and other health programs), Social Security and other federal benefits to seniors, the cost of living, transportation, and elder justice, among other issues.  The Council will meet on a periodic schedule.

Congressman Neguse is hoping to arrange a Town Hall for the public in Estes Park during August.  As soon as that meeting is scheduled, the date, time and location should be announced on the Congressman’s website:  https://Neguse.House.gov, or his Facebook page.
