Rep. Neguse encourages veterans to claim compensation by Wednesday
U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, D-Lafayette, is encouraging veterans to file a claim under the PACT Act to receive compensation by Wednesday.
The PACT Act expanded veteran health care. The bill provides health care coverage to more than 3.5 million post 9/11 veterans who were exposed to burn pits or other toxins during deployment. Veterans can receive up to 12 months of backdated compensation when they begin the claiming process by Wednesday.
“Our veterans and our service members sacrifice so much to keep us safe, and it’s our duty to make sure that, ultimately, we put people over politics and keep our promise to care for them when they come home,” Neguse said during a press call Wednesday.
Veterans exposed to toxic burn pits may be eligible. Veterans can begin their claim or learn more information at VA.gov/pact or by calling 800-698-2411.
