The Bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus

Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District is home to world-renowned ski and mountain towns—from Nederland to Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, and countless others located on the state’s Western Slope. Our state’s ski industry has become a cornerstone of our economy, attracting millions of annual visitors and employing folks in our outdoor recreation workforce. But this industry is not without its challenges, whether that be recreation and resource management or navigating how best to support our local communities and ensuring adequate support for everyone who relies on this industry for work or for play.

That’s why Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse is proud to Co-Chair the Bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus, to discuss issues related to the ski and snowboard industry and work to advance measures that strengthen outdoor recreation and tourism. Members of the Caucus will also help educate their colleagues on how best to support the people and public lands that form the backbone of this industry.

“Colorado’s ski industry is a cornerstone of our state’s economy and identity. And with that prominence comes year-round challenges, from recreation management to supporting the communities that make it all possible,” said Congressman Neguse. “I’m proud to launch the Bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus with my colleagues, and continue our work to forge common ground with folks across the political spectrum in the interest of our mountain towns and the workers who keep them running.”

“Utah is known for having the Greatest Snow on Earth, making our ski and snowboard opportunities first in class. My team and I are committed to advancing the priorities of our ski and snowboard industries and outdoor recreationalists, and I look forward to co-chairing this caucus and working with this bipartisan group to further our efforts,” said Congressman Moore.

“Skiing is New Hampshire’s official state sport, and the skiing and snowboarding industry are a vital economic engine for our state,” said  Congressman Pappas. “It is my honor to join my colleagues from Colorado, Utah, California, New Hampshire, and Michigan to launch the bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus for the 119th Congress. Together we will advance sound policy that bolsters the ski industry and confronts challenges like workforce housing, staffing shortages, and climate change. I remain committed to ensuring strong support for outdoor recreation in New Hampshire and across the country.”

“California’s 3rd District is home to the breathtaking Lake Tahoe region, Mammoth Lakes and some of the country’s premier destinations for skiing, snowboarding, and winter recreation. These mountains are vital to our local economy, our way of life, and our identity. I am proud to join the bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus to protect the spirit of our mountains. Together, we will work to ensure our slopes remain a source of joy, jobs, and environmental stewardship for generations to come,” said  Congressman Kiley.

“Winter sports are a way of life here in New Hampshire. Proud to help launch the Bipartisan Ski and Snowboard Caucus in the 119th Congress to advocate for the outdoor recreation activities that fuel our communities and our economy,” said Congresswoman Goodlander.

“Skiing and snowboarding have a unique way of bringing people together regardless of their background. In places like Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula, these sports are more than just pastimes - they’re part of the local identity and economy. Continued support from Congress — especially through the Bipartisan Ski & Snowboard Caucus — is essential to help this industry grow and thrive and will help ensure these benefits reach families and communities across the country,”  said Congressman Bergman.
