Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse unveiled new legislation to provide aid and economic relief to individuals experiencing homelessness throughout Colorado and across the country in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The CARES Act, which passed the House and was signed by the President on March 27th, provided $4 billion in Emergency Solution Grants to equip the country’s homeless population, including $22 million for the state of Colorado.

Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse sent a letter to the White House Coronavirus Task Force, signed by fellow Colorado Delegation lawmakers, requesting increased transparency on personal protective equipment shipments and FEMA’s supply chain management process. Earlier this week, Governor Polis shared that a ventilator contract the state of Colorado was working on to bring supplies to local communities was dropped because of a countering bid from FEMA.

Washington D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse introduced new legislation to prohibit reporting of medically necessary procedures related to the COVID-19 outbreak. The bill would amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to ban debt from medically necessary procedures resulting from COVID–19 from being included on credit reports.

Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse announced new legislation to ease restrictions on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program to ensure recipients of those resources can maintain social distancing advice while also utilizing their benefits, and access essential home goods.

Washington D.C.—Today Congressman Joe Neguse led an effort along with Andy Levin (MI-09), Ben Ray Luján (NM-03), and Tom Malinowski (NJ-07) and the support of over 100 House Members requesting that future COVID-19 response packages include stabilization funding specifically for localities with populations under 500,000.

While the CARES Act that was signed by the President included a $150 billion Coronavirus Relief Fund, the legislation did not allow for localities with populations under 500,000 to receive stabilization funds directly.
