The First 100 Days

Dear Friends, It's been over 100 days since I took office and I've been hard at work for the people of the 2nd Congressional District. I introduced a record 10 bills, more than any other freshman member of Congress, held 13 town halls across our district, secured a hearing on an important public lands package in the Natural Resources Committee, passed an amendment on the House Floor, had two provisions signed into law by the President, and helped pass top Democratic priorities as a member of … Continue Reading

First Hearing to Preserve Colorado’s Public Lands

Dear Friends, Earlier this month, the House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on the Colorado Outdoor Recreation and Economy (CORE) Act. Introduced by Senator Michael Bennet and me, this bill will conserve about 400,000 acres of public lands across the state of Colorado. A MAJOR LEGISLATIVE HEARING FOR THE CORE ACT Congressman Neguse speaking at the hearing for the CORE Act I was so thrilled to have supporters from across Colorado in attendance at this hearing, including … Continue Reading

Always Great to Be Home!

Dear Friends, It was so good to be back in Colorado last week and visit with so many of you! We held four more town halls, spoke with labor leaders and mobile home owners at two round tables, visited with children at the Boulder Public Library, toured local schools and farms, hosted a Women's History Month luncheon, and visited The Academy in Boulder for our third "Senior Saturday." It was quite a whirlwind! 10 TOWN HALLS AND COUNTING Since taking office, I have held 10 town halls across … Continue Reading

An Eventful Week in the 2nd

Hello Friends, It was so great to be back in Colorado last week. It was a breath of fresh air to be among fellow Coloradans, back in the shadow of the Rocky Mountains and home with Andrea and Natalie. I was able to visit with many of you throughout the district and I had the opportunity to sit down with our city and county leaders, local business owners, researchers at our federal labs and students at Colorado State University to have productive conversations about how I can be working for … Continue Reading

Hard at Work for You

Dear Friends, It has been an incredible honor to represent the 2nd Congressional District here in Washington. In these first few weeks, I have been hard at work for you, working on legislation to conserve our public lands, protect our democracy, keep our communities safer with sensible gun reforms, and to address the existential threat of climate change on our planet. ENSURING THE NEXT GENERATION IS ENGAGED IN OUR POLITICAL PROCESS I introduced the Next Generation Votes Act, federal … Continue Reading

Hitting the Ground Running

Dear Friends, On January 3rd, I traveled to Washington D.C. with my wife Andrea and daughter Natalie to be sworn in to the United States House of Representatives as your next Congressman. As the son of refugees and first Eritrean American to serve in the people's house, it was an honor to have my father sitting in the House Gallery able to witness this moment. Only in America is my story possible. Since being sworn in, I have gotten to work immediately to introduce several pieces of original … Continue Reading
