When the Gypsum Town Council on Tuesday began considering whether to put lights on the town’s new skatepark, the fact that the project appears to be coming in both ahead of schedule and under budget helped sway the decision.

The $55,000 expenditure for lights received unanimous approval from the council.

House Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) on Wednesday dismissed Republican discussions about opening an impeachment inquiry into President Biden, calling the conversations a “complete distraction.”

Last week Congressman Joe Neguse joined with California Representative Jared Huffman and Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen to support legislation that would fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA. 

IDEA was passed in 1975 which then intention to ensure that children with disabilities have access to educational opportunities. When originally drafted, the federal government committed to pay 40% of the average per pupil expenditure for special education. 

Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse submitted nine amendments to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill, which would address common aviation concerns, including reducing noise pollution and increasing the use of unleaded fuel.

One of the amendments the Congressman filed would require the Community Collaboration Program to directly interview impacted residents, to make certain that affected residents have a voice in airport planning, noise, and environmental issues.

Technically, Boulder County was the recipient of a $25 million Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity RAISE grant to fund safety and mobility improvements along Diagonal Highway.

But Longmont officials say it was a collaborative effort between several government agencies that will greatly benefit the city, too.

In addition to Boulder County, the cities of Boulder and Longmont as well as RTD and CDOT had a helping hand in securing the federal grant.

U.S. Rep. Joe Neguse, alongside other legislators, has introduced the IDEA Full Funding Act — which would ensure Congress fulfills its commitment to fully fund the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, also known as IDEA.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet, John Hickenlooper and Martin Heinrich, joined by Rep. Joe Neguse, reintroduced the Tribal Access to Clean Water Act on Wednesday.

The act addresses the need for Native American tribes, which have historically been excluded from Colorado River policies, to have greater access to clean water. The bill would increase funding to the Indian Health Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Reclamation to assist tribal communities in accessing clean water.

Supporting federally funded firefighters is one climate-related priority uniting Democrats and Republicans in Congress, even as they remain starkly divided over the issue in general.

Momentum is growing to pass legislation raising federal wildland firefighter wages, as a temporary salary increase is set to expire Sept. 30. Without it, the salaries for tens of thousands of federal firefighters could be significantly rolled back just as blazes are expected to be raging at an above-normal pace in some parts of the country.
