Neguse, DeGette, Perlmutter, Crow Joint Statement on Denver ICE Raids

Washington D.C.—This morning, following reports last night that Administration immigration authorities would target people for deportation in several cities across the U.S. this weekend, including in Denver, Representatives Joe Neguse, Diana DeGette, Ed Perlmutter and Jason Crow released the following joint statement:

“Families across the Denver area have been thrust into fear and uncertainty at the threat of ICE raids this weekend. As the nation grapples with the consequences of this administration’s often cruel and dangerous immigration policies, the President is doubling down on his tactics and threatening to increase family separation in the process.”

“This administration's demonization of immigrants must end. We call on ICE to immediately provide our offices and the public with the answers we are statutorily and constitutionally entitled to, and implore local immigration officials to desist from their targeting of children and families.”

“Instead of dangerous raids, this Administration should invest in true comprehensive immigration reform that recognizes the violence that many immigrants have fled to seek refuge in America and which truly addresses the humanitarian crisis at our border.”
