Congressman Neguse Drafts Letter of Support for Estes Park Flood Mitigation Infrastructure Grant

August 8, 2019
Press Release

Washington D.C.— Congressman Neguse recently sent a letter of support to the Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao, urging the Department of Transportation to give full and fair consideration to the town of Estes Park’s application for a BUILD Transportation grant. This proposal would improve community flood resilience and includes plans to rebuild, lengthen, and elevate the Rockwell, and Riverside Bridges as well as widen the channel along the Big Thompson River between the Highway 36 Bridge and the Riverside Bridge to ensure the safety and health of the Estes Park community.

Congressman Neguse stated in his letter, “This proposal would positively impact the lives of over 5,800 residents of Estes Park and nearly 3 million annual visitors. This project will decrease flood insurance premiums for over 20 properties and remove US 36 from the floodplain.”
