Neguse Introduces Resolution to Ensure Safe Passage for Vulnerable Afghan Refugees with P1 and P2 Visas
Washington, D.C.—Today, Congressman Joe Neguse unveiled a resolution calling for the U.S. to maintain its commitment to vulnerable Afghans, and facilitate safe passage for those with P1 and P2 visas to the U.S. The resolution recognizes the contributions that many who are now fleeing Taliban persecution have made to U.S. operations, and emphasizes the House of Representatives’ commitment to securing Afghan refugees safe passage to the U.S. In addition to introducing a resolution in the House, Neguse is pushing an amendment to add the provision to the National Defense Authorization Act of FY2022.
“The U.S. has long provided shelter and safety to refugees from around the world fleeing persecution,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “In this moment of great consequence, the U.S. must fulfill its commitment to those who stood with America and facilitate safe passage for Afghan refugees with P1 and P2 visas.”
