Congressman Neguse Announces Winners of the 4th Annual Congressional Art Competition

Lafayette, CO – Thursday, May 5, 2022, Congressman Joe Neguse held an awards ceremony at the Boulder Public Library to select this year’s winners of the 4th Annual Congressional Art Competition. Yosha Gautam a 10th grader at Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette, Colorado was named the overall winner for her piece titled “The Face of Courage”, a portrait of an indigenous man. 

Yosha’s “The Face of Courage” will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol, alongside artwork from contest winners across the country. Additional pieces of artwork that won second and third place will be placed in the Congressman’s regional offices in Boulder and Fort Collins.  

“I am inspired by the level of creativity these bright young students displayed through this year’s submissions. This year’s winners not only displayed their talented artistic abilities but also shed light on issues of national and community importance, “ said Congressman Neguse. “I extend my sincerest congratulations to each of the students, who demonstrated the immense talent we have in our district.”

All submitted artwork will hang in the Boulder Public Library from Tuesday, May 3rd to Thursday, May 19th. 

The selection was made by a panel of judges. The Congressional Art Competition is meant to encourage creativity and is an opportunity for high school students to be recognized for their artistic talents not only within the Congressional District but in our nation's capital.
