Press Release

Washington D.C.— Following President Trump’s veto today of the congressional joint resolution to block his national emergency, Congressman Joe Neguse released the following statement:

“The President’s veto of the joint resolution shows a complete disregard for the separation of powers laid out in our constitution. Following the decision by Congress not to fund the wall in the most recent spending bill, the Senate voted just yesterday to rebuke the President’s decision to declare a national emergency. The House and the Senate have both made clear they do not condone such use of Presidential authority, yet the President continues to move forward to fight an emergency that simply does not exist. Put simply, today's action is yet another example of this administration subverting our constitutional separation of powers, and I look forward to voting to override the President's veto.”
