Congressman Joe Neguse Launches “Restoring Our Lands and Our Communities” Listening Tour as He Kicks off Term as Public Lands Committee Chairman
Neguse to hold 3 listening sessions across the state to hear from Coloradans on public lands priorities
Washington D.C.— Today, Congressman Joe Neguse, as Chairman of the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, announced the launch of a listening tour to hear from Coloradans on their public lands priorities as part of his “Restoring Our Lands and Our Communities” initiative. In February, Congressman Neguse was elected to Chair the Public Lands Subcommittee, the first Coloradan and first African-American ever to hold the position. As he kicks off his tenure as Chairman, he’s hoping to solicit feedback from communities across Colorado to set the agenda on public lands conservation, wildfire mitigation, natural resource management and investments in Colorado’s outdoor recreation economy.
“I’m eager to get to work as Chair of the U.S. House Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, and to deliver results for the people of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West as we work to restore our lands and our communities and build a brighter future,” said Congressman Joe Neguse. “Our approach has always been to lead locally and listen first. That’s the approach we’ve modeled through the CORE Act, Colorado conservation legislation that was crafted by the local communities, conservationists, sportsmen and outdoor businesses across our state, and it’s the model we plan to follow as the Public Lands Subcommittee begins its critical work. Our Colorado public lands listening tour will provide an opportunity to hear from communities across our state about their priorities and experiences related to public lands, wildfire mitigation and our state’s outdoor recreation economy. Listening first will ensure our work in the Subcommittee meets the needs of our communities, and includes every voice in the conversation. ”
