Lafayette, CO — Today, House Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse visited with local leaders in Longmont to learn more about the City’s plans to construct a regional transit system. Rep. Neguse secured $1,000,000 in Community Project Funding for the project as part of a series of government funding bills signed into law last month. The Congressman was joined by Longmont Mayor Joan Peck, City Transportation Planning Manager Phil Greenwald, and Assistant City Manager Joni Marsh, as well as members of the city staff. The group gathered in the Civic Center mall area and took a walk down Main Street, stopping to tour the Transit Ready Development and the historic train depot.

“It was great to join leaders across Longmont to hear about the City’s plan for a regional transit system. Public transit helps connect our communities, and I am proud to have secured funding that will invest in our local transportation infrastructure and help make this project a reality,” said Assistant Leader Neguse.

The Longmont Microtransit System will improve the quality of life for residents, workers, and visitors across the community by connecting these individuals with expanded access to everyday essentials like grocery stores, schools, health care facilities, and more. The $1 million in federal funding secured by Rep. Neguse will reduce barriers to transit and transportation for residents across the city. Learn more about the project here.
