Congressman Neguse Announces New Fire Truck for Yampa Valley Regional Airport
Lafayette, CO — Today, Congressman Joe Neguse announced the Yampa Valley Regional Airport will receive a new aircraft rescue and firefighting truck. Made possible by a $1.2 million award from the FAA's regular Airport Improvement Program (AIP), the acquisition of this aircraft rescue and firefighting equipment will bolster aviation safety at this growing airport.
Yampa Valley Regional Airport serves as a gateway to northwest Colorado, supporting travel for local community members and visitors to the region. In recent years, the airport has seen a surge in passenger numbers and is working to accommodate increases through a terminal expansion project.
“Hundreds of thousands of travelers utilize the Yampa Valley Airport every year to journey to and from Routt County’s breathtaking landscapes — and I am excited to announce federal funding for a new fire truck that will support the airport’s emergency operations, enhancing safety for its passengers and workers,” said Congressman Joe Neguse.
“The Yampa Valley Regional Airport is very grateful and excited to receive this $1.2 million FAA grant to purchase a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle. This addition will bring our inventory of ARFF vehicles up to three; it will greatly enhance the resiliency of our ARFF response capability and our ability to continue to safely support increases in commercial air service at the airport,” Airport Director Kevin Booth said.
The Airport Improvement Program (AIP) is funded through recent congressional Consolidated Appropriations Acts, in which Assistant Leader Neguse has regularly advocated for increased support for community safety and resources that reduce and mitigate the threats of disasters, including fire and wildfires.
